Those are the tenors in the Alphens Cossack Choir. It is an enthusiastic group that could use a few extra voices. They still know how to manage themselves, but to keep all parties in balance, every vote is more than welcome. We know there is some reluctance to respond because everything is sung in Russian. But every time it appears again for those who have taken the step that this can be mastered very quickly. All texts are written phonetically and are therefore easy to read and pronounce and it really sounds Russian. Our conductor Arkadi Gankin is from Belarus and knows whether our statement is correct and knows how to apply the small nuances where necessary. On this site you can find a lot of information about the choir and it is also possible to schedule an appointment there. You can now also do this directly via info@alphenskozakkenkoor.nl
Come and join those cozy Cossacks in Alphen aan den Rijn. You will certainly not regret it!

For the real Cossacks, the distance was no problem to reach their goal. Not even for these Alphen Cossacks. They come from Hazerswoude-Rijndijk, Leiderdorp, Soest, Noorden, Oude Wetering, Wassenaar, Moordrecht, Aalsmeer, Woerden, Boskoop, Bergambacht, Leimuiden, Utrecht, Hardinxsveld-Giesendam, Ter Aar (Langeraar, Aardam), Nieuwkoop (De Meije) , Zoetermeer, Woubrugge, Boskoop and of course a number from Alphen aan den Rijn. So perhaps there is someone you can find pool with if the distance is a bit further away.

Alphens Cossacks Choir looks back with FULL satisfaction at their participation in the VOLkorenfestival in Middelburg. At 2:00 pm in the Mennonite Church and 4:00 pm in the Koorkerk. We were again pleasantly surprised that the public attended these concerts in large numbers. Both churches had to close their doors early because the churches were FULLY filled with a very enthusiastic audience. Which unfortunately meant that we had to disappoint many lovers of the beautiful Byzantine / Orthodox music and the romantic, exuberant and exciting Cossack songs. So after the last performance the choir of the organization was immediately asked if we wanted to come again next year to give the people who now came in front of a closed door. But yes, the Alphens Cossacks Choir has more concerts throughout the year. A concert in Germany is planned for next year. It is of course always possible to make an appointment for a concert through this site. We would then be happy to discuss the options.
Because we can then work with you to put together a very varied program tailored to the budget that you have available.

We thank the friendly photographer Anton Koens who was present at the concert in the Koorkerk for the beautiful collage he sent us.

The Alphens Cossacks Choir has closed the winter season with two very varied concerts. On March 31, 2019 there was a joint concert with the Volendam Vocal Ensemble in the beautifulSint Vincentius Church in Volendam. The two different music styles were much appreciated by the audience. The Cossacks with their Byzantine / orthodox repertoire alternated with the cheerful and compelling Cossack songs. The Volendam Vocal Ensemble had put together a wonderful repertoire from musical theatre to the compelling Slave Choir from Verdi’s Nabucco.

On April 7, 2019, two choirs from Germany visited the Saint Bonifacius Church in Alphen aan den Rijn. Despite the beautiful summer weather, the audience in the packed church enjoyed the wonderful performance. A full program started at 3:00 PM and ended with a standing ovation at 5:30 PM. The choirs managed to enrapture the audience. For the Alphens Cossacks Choir it was certainly an incentive to study a varied program again for the autu e Alphens Cossacks Choir has closed the winter season with two very varied concerts.

The Alphens Cossacks Choir is proud to give a concert together with the Russian choirs Russkaja Duscha and Rodnye Napjevey, both from Germany, in the beautiful Sint Bonifacius Church in Alphen aan den Rijn. They are special choirs with a varied repertoire. Last year they distinguished themselves in Germany with their singing. In a contest for choirs organized and broadcast by the West German Rundfunk, Russkaja Duscha managed to reach the final. The passionate conductor Irina Hoerner will undoubtedly have contributed to this. She knows how to enthuse the choir members and that radiates in their singing. It is a pleasure to watch and listen to them. The Alphens Cossacks Choir, which already has a lot of international experience, is very pleased with both choirs. Last year they had a very successful performance in Germany together with both choirs. Conductor Arkadi Gankin of the Alphens Cossacks Choir soon felt at home among his fellow countrymen and was also able to convey fire to his Cossacks. Because the Alphens Cossacks Choir has also built up a large repertoire of Byzantine / Orthodox songs, which are sung a capella. The sonorous voices of basses and baritones together with the beautiful clear tenors create a beautiful timbre. In addition, they can make the churches in which they perform vibrate to their foundations by their sometimes compelling and romantic, sensitive war songs, with the exuberant drinking songs with their own morals as an apotheosis. In short, the expectation is a varied concert in the beautifully renovated Sint Bonifacius Church with its beautiful acoustics. The previous concert of the Alphens Cossacks Choir in Alphen, with the Klezmerband Nigun, was sold out early. The church offers more places than the Parktheater, but it is wise to buy tickets early. In advance the price is € 12.50 and at the start of the concert € 15.00. There are a number of sales addresses in Alphen aan den Rijn, Lina's Muziekhandel, Raadhuisstraat 269, Boekhandel Haasbeek Herenhof, Keizershof 78 and in Langeraar de Gemakswinkel, Strooplikker 1. But you can also order them via www.alphenskovragenkoor.nl and after receipt of payment the cards will be delivered to your home by post. On this site you can also find all information about the Alphens Cossacks Choir. In short: enough ingredients for a beautiful and very varied musical afternoon.

After the successful performances in the OLV Geboortekerk in Berkel en Rodenrijs, together with the Klezmerband Nigun, on February 17 and in the R.K. Johannes de Doperkerk in Montfoort on March 16, 2019, the Alphens Cossacks Choir is now preparing for the next performances. On March 31, the famous eel sound in Volendam will have to make way for the performance of the 35-man Alphens Kozak choir together with the Volendam Vocal Ensemble. Two musical worlds will meet in the Sint Vincentius Church in Volendam. It will certainly be a colorful concert due to the variety of different music styles, but the clothing of both choirs will also give a special appearance.

April 7 another such meeting that the Alphen Cossacks are looking forward to. They have invited two special choirs Russkaja Duscha and Rodney Napjevey from Germany. They managed to reach the final in a singing competition that was broadcast by the TV channel WDR. It is a choir composed of Russians living in Germany. In addition to the varied repertoire, they also have special soloists and an enthusiastic conductor. The concert will take place on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm in the Sint Bonifacius Church in Alphen aan den Rijn. Further information will follow. For more information see also the agenda. There is more in the planning, but that will follow later. Would you also like to make your voice heard. We can still use a number of tenors. You are most welcome.

On Saturday evening 3 November, the Parktheater in Alphen aan den Rijn was completely sold out. The public witnessed a first. The Klezmerband Nigun and the Alphens Cossacks Choir met in a joint concert. Two different music styles that came to a special amalgamation. The Alphens Cossack Choir opened the evening with a musical turnout and then a few more orthodox songs followed by Cossack songs with soloists from the choir. Nigun then took over the stage to impress the audience with their instrumental songs and vocals in a virtuoso way. After the break, the stage was completely filled with the Alphens Cossacks Choir and the Klezmerband Nigun and they each performed varied songs in turn. The last 3 songs were performed together which was appreciated by the audience with a standing ovation. At theend of the concert, Joke van Egdom from Nigun announced that this concert shows that music brings people together. The Alphens Cossacks Choir and Nigun left the stage with an exuberant closing song.
Both can look back on a very successful collaboration.

The Alphens Cossacks Choir is again preparing for a great concert season 2018-2019. A very varied program which starts on October 14 with a concert on Sunday afternoon in Multicultural Center "de Spreng" in Oude Wetering. So every Wednesday night the rehearsals start again to make the new songs your own and perfect the older ones even more. The choir is still open to receive new members and tenors are especially welcome. The Russian repertoire is easy to master because everything is written down phonetically. The choir offers the opportunity to play for a period and to discover which voice type suits you best. We rehearse every Wednesday evening in the Maranathakerk in Alphen aan den Rijn. First take a look around on the website what the Alphens Cossackskoor has to offer and send a message to info@alphenskozakkoor.nl if you want more information and want to come by. And don't forget, singing is very healthy for body and limb, and all the stress disappears like snow in the sun.

April 24, 2018 the Alphens Cossacks Choir gave a surprise concert for a group of children from Chernobyl. The largest nuclear disaster in the world took place there in 1986 and families on the border of Ukraine and Belarus are still affected, although the radiation is now within the norms. Children from that area have been housed with host families in Alphen aan den Rijn and the surrounding area for 8 weeks to recuperate. The Cossacks have all responded enthusiastically to provide a free performance for these children, supervisors and host families. For conductor Arkadi Gankin, who was himself born in Belarus, it was another nice introduction to fellow countrymen and speakers.
The Alphens Cossacks Choir, which sings everything in Russian, does not experience much in the Netherlands that a number of songs were sung so enthusiastically. The children were also pleasantly surprised to hear the songs in their language, which were sung by Dutch men. The Alphens Cossacks Choir has a lot of respect for all supervisors, host families and the MAX foundation for its hospitality and all who have jointly ensured that these children have experienced a number of unforgettable weeks in Alphen aan den Rijn and surroundings.
The Alphens Cossacks Choir is also pleased that they were able to make a small contribution to this.
